A/N: Omg. I'm really gonna post this.... well.... here it goes. some of it at least.... I like critique but dont be be too harsh please!
Disclaimer: I own no part of InuYasha, unfortunately….
Ten years have come and gone. Will I ever find what I’m searching for? Eighteen year old Rin glanced around the clearing where she had been in for the last few days. “Master Jaken, when shall Lord Sesshomaru be returning?” Rin whined toward the froggy looking demon that had been serving Sesshomaru for many, many centuries. “If I’ve told you once, I’ve told you a million times Rin,” Jaken replied, “Lord Sesshomaru comes and goes as he pleases and all we can do is wait patiently.” Rin sighed and stuck her tongue out at Jaken. The clearing they had been in for the last few days was extremely small, and completely surrounded by tall brush. The only way in and out was to fly. She glanced over at Ah-Un, who took up almost half the clearing on his own. Rin herself was actually sitting in the branches of a low slung tree. Jaken was sitting next to a fire, eyes closed and holding the Staff of Two Heads. “I’m tired of just waiting!” Rin announced. Jaken’s big eyes popped open and darted over to her. “Rin, Lord Sesshomaru told us to wait here for him,” he replied. “I’ll be back soon!” she replied as she swung out of the tree. Years ago, she had given up the square designed kimono for a shorter kimono with the print like Sesshomaru wore. The leg space made traveling and play a lot easier. “Ah-Un,” the demon lifted its two heads, “Lets go explore!” Ah-Un made a roaring noise as Rin jumped onto his back. Jaken scrambled up and started toward Ah-Un, who shot up before Jaken could reach them. “Rin! We must await Lord Sesshomaru here!” Jaken shouted, jumping up and down. Ah-Un hovered just out of Jaken’s reach. “We’ll be back before Lord Sesshomaru returns,” Rin grinned and Ah-Un raised up higher, leaving the clearing. Jaken continued to jump and holler at Rin, but Rin paid no attention to him whatsoever. “This is not good,” Jaken squalled, “Should Master Sesshomaru return before Rin does, he’ll have my head,” he grasped his neck and gulped, but there was nothing he could do. So he returned to the fire and hoped Rin would return soon.

“Remember this place Ah-Un. I’m sure I wont,” Rin laughed when Ah-Un nodded their heads. “Great! Now, lets explore!” Ah-Un surged forward with a roar and Rin held tight to the reins, laughing. Below them, dozens upon dozens of little clearings past, but none of them seemed like an adventure. Then, Un turned his head and gave a low growl. Ah turned his head, listened for a moment, then growled as well. Rin touched the hilt of the sword Lord Sesshomaru was teaching her to use. “An adventure? Well, lets go!” Au-Uh needed no further encouragement, and they swiftly changed directions heading west. Rin held tightly to both the reins and her sword, Wulfson. If only she was part demon, then she would know more about what they were going into. After a few minutes, Ah-Un stopped, and hovered above a tine clearing. So small that Ah-Un would have a difficulty entering without making a sound. “Get just above the trees and I’ll hop in. wait for my call and just come crashing in, just in case I need a quick getaway.” Rin explained. Ah-Un moved to hover just above the opening. Rin lifted one leg over Ah-Un and carefully slid off. Just before hitting the ground, Rin bent her knees, then tucked and rolled and returned to a crouch. Rin stayed still as she took in the sights of the clearing. It was smaller and a lot darker but there was nothing in the clearing. Standing up, she was about to call to Ah-Un, but a loud noise sounded from the other side of the clearing, behind the trees. Rin melted back into the shadows, and waited to see what unfolded. The bushes across the clearing, and in pushed a small, dog-like animal. It stood in the middle of the clearing, catching its breath, while more sounds continue to get closer. Rin continued to stand back and watched as three men from a nearby village entered. They circled around the animal, prodding it with their sticks and pitchforks. “Stupid mutt! The demon wolves wont take you, our dogs wont take you, and now you’ve killed our chickens! You’ve no reason to live!” the leader with the pitchfork raised it up to strike the animal. When he raised the pitchfork, Rin ran from the shadows, drew her sword and parried the pitchfork. The men stared, surprised at her clothes at first, then at her. “She wears the cloth of a demon lord! Lets get out of here!” the men took off through the opening in which they came through. Rin watched them disappear, and listened to them get farther away. Rin returned Wulfson to his sheath, and looked down at the beast. It looked up at her with huge amber eyes. Rin looked down his body and noticed the injured back leg, part of an arrow sticking out of it. “Oh! You’re hurt! Is it alright if I touch you?” Rin wasn’t all surprised when the small wolf-dog nodded its head. Rin knelt on the ground and carefully check the leg. She found that the arrow had gone clear through. “Okay, I don’t have the skills to take care of this. Do you trust me enough to take you to someone who can?” the little wolf pup nodded its head. Rin smiled, “Great! Ah-Un!” she called, and immediately regretted it. The beast came crashing through the trees, roaring. The wolf pup cowered behind Rin, little growls coming from him. “Easy Ah-Un. Everything is alright. We need to find Kagome. This wolf demon is injured and needs my help to get better.” Rin turned around and picked up the pup, holding it in her arms. Ah-Un knelt to the ground and Rin scrambled up. Taking hold of the reins, and while keeping the wolf covered, they shot up and crashed upwards and took off to search out Kagome’s and InuYasha’s home.

Kagome sat in her chair as she watched InuYasha play with the twins, Torhu and Youske. Torhu had picked up Kagome’s genes, getting the black hair and Youske had gotten InuYasha’s white hair. They both got the demon ears though, but they looked really cute on them. At the moment, the two had caught InuYasha off guard and the seven year old twins had tackled him to the ground. Shielding her eyes from the sun, she looked to the sky and noticed something kind of large was flying toward them. “Kids. Inside now.” Rarely did she get a stern voice and they rushed into the house, leaving InuYasha laying on the ground bewildered. “What’s wrong Kagome?” he asked, climbing to his feet. “Someone flies this way.” Kagome answered, pointing to the black dot in the sky. InuYasha turned and pulled out the Tetsigua. “Get inside with the twins.” InuYasha told Kagome. “Okay,” Kagome turned and ran inside, shutting the door behind her. InuYasha stood in the yard outside their house. The black dot continued to grow larger as it grew closer. His grip tightened when it became clear that it had two heads. “Sesshomaru…” InuYasha growled. His eyes watched the ground, looking for his half brother. The beast continued to get closer and soon enough, it landed and walked closer. “InuYasha! Is Kagome here?” Rin slid off Ah-Un and walked closer still. “Where is Sesshomaru?” InuYasha asked waringly. “I don’t know. I just need Kagome’s help. He’s injured!” She held out the pup toward InuYasha, who jumped back. “He reeks of a wolf, yet has the light scent of a dog. Half demon?” the wolf pup nodded his head. “Please InuYasha.” Rin looked up at him with tears in her eyes, and InuYasha was taken back. “I just need Kagomes help for a few minutes. That’s all.” Rin stood staring at him. Finally, InuYasha regained his composer and nodded. “Thank you thank you,” Rin ran past him and headed for the house. “Kagome!” Rin yelled. Kagome stuck her head out of the door. “I need your help. This demon is injured!” Kagome opened the door completely as Rin rushed in. “Bring him into the kitchen and set him on the table.” Kagome instructed and Rin obeyed immediately. She carefully laid the pup on the table. “Torhu, please get my medical bag,” Kagome said as she started to examine the pup. Torhu popped out from behind a door. She ran down the hallway and a few moments later, came back down the hallway, dragging the bag. Youske helped her pick up the bag and placed it on the table. Kagome opened the bag and pulled out some big shears. “This might hurt,” Kagome said as she snipped the end with the feathers. The pup whimpered, but other than that, it made no noise. Its eyes stayed with Rin and Rin kept her eyes locked with his. “Okay, I’m going to pull the arrow through. This wont feel good either…” Kagome said. Rin held the pups head and kept her eyes closed. She could feet the pup stiffen, then relax, and Rin knew it was out. She opened her eyes, and found Kagome was cleaning and dressing the wound. In only a few moments, the back leg was wrapped with white gauze. “Here,” Kagome handed Rin a bag. She glanced inside, and found it filled with more gauze and a little tube. “Tomorrow, change the gauze and put some of that salve on before you rewrap.” Kagome explained. Rins eyes filled with tears, then threw her arms around Kagome. “Thank you thank you!” Rin sobbed. InuYasha walked in to find the two in an embrace. He walked quietly and grabbed Torhu and Youske by the ears. Before they cold protest, she shushed them and pulled them out of the room. After a moment or two, the pup whimpered and licked Rin’s arm. Rin pulled back from Kagome and patted the pup on his head. “Have you a name pup?” Kagome asked. “Sven…is that it?” Rin asked quietly. The pup nodded his head furiously. Rin smiled, “Sven it is then,” and rubbed him behind the ears. Kagome watched the interaction between the two with a smile on her face. The pup seemed to love Rin and Rin seemed to be taken with the young pup. She was surprised that Rin had just popped out a name. Rin continued to stroke Sven, when InuYasha strode into the room. “Are you done yet Kagome. The house reeks of wolf,” Rins eyes went big with tears as Kagomes face clouded over in anger. “InuYasha…” Kagome started, and InuYasha jumped back. “No, wai…” he started. “SIT BOY!” Kagome hollered, and InuYasha slammed into the floor, causing the house to rattle. Kagome turned back to Rin with a smile on her face. “Don’t worry about InuYasha. You two may stay as long as you would like.” Kagome kicked InuYasha in the side. “Right?” “Yea, sure, whatever,” InuYasha said as he tried to get up off the ground. It had been a while since Kagome had last made him sit and he hadn’t missed it. Rin gave a small smile, “Thank you both,” she said with a bow, “But I must be returning. Lord Sesshomaru may have returned while I’ve been away and he will not be pleased with me.” She picked up Sven and headed for the door. Torhu and Youske stuck their heads out of a side room. “Bye Rin!” they shouted in unison. Rin turned and smiled, “Bye” and she left the room. InuYasha finally got up off the floor and stood glaring at Kagome. “Why did you do that?” InuYasha growled. Kagome glared back at him, “I did it because…” the door opened again and Rin entered. “Forgive me,” she gave another bow, “But I forgot the sack,” the two watched her cross the room, grab the sack and with one more bow, she quickly fled the house. “See! You’ve frightened that girl so much she’s scared to even go into my home! This house is a haven to anyone who needs it! Sometimes, you just make me so….SIT!!!” InuYasha slammed into the floor again as Kagome headed to their bedroom. Torhu and Youske had been watching from their room, then glanced at each other. “Mom must be really mad, that was a powerful one,” they watched as InuYasha grumbled and tried to get up.
Rin had hurried out of the house and picked up Sven, juggling the sack around him. She heard another ‘Sit’ come from the house. “Sorry InuYasha,” she whispered as she scrambled up onto Ah-Un’s back. “Lets go back. We’ve been gone for a long time.” Ah-Un shot up from the ground and started flying southeast.

Back in the clearing, Jaken was still sitting by the fire. Rin had left early in the morning, Hearing the brush starting to rattle, Jaken started talking, “Rin, you are such a nuisance. You are just extremely lucky Lord Sesshomaru hasn’t returned, you no good, lousy…” “Jaken,” a deep male voice shocked Jaken into leaping into the air. “Lord Sesshomaru! My lord!” Jaken bowed and stayed bowed. “Jaken, where is Rin? It is time to move on,” Lord Sesshomaru glanced around the clearing. Jaken looked up and grimaced. “She just took off my lord. I told her to stay but…” That was when Ah-Un broke through the tree tops and landed in the spot they had taken off at. “We’ve returned Master Jaken!” Rin shouted unnecessarily, sliding off Ah-Un. “Did we beat Lord Sessh…” she stopped in mid-sentence when she spotted Lord Sesshomaru. Instinctively, she hugged Sven closer to her body as Lord Sesshomaru moved toward her. “You reek of my half brother and his woman. Why would you go to him and what is this half breed doing here?” He pierced a gaze at Sven who looked away and tucked his ears down. “Get rid of it,” he stated, then turned away. Rin felt her eyes fill with tears that started spilling over and trailing down her face. It wasn’t fair! Sven hadn’t done anything and now he was being sent away. She went to set him down, but looked into those pups eyes and found love and trust. Rin pulled the pup tight to her chest again, and stood up straight. “No.” Jaken looked over from where he was packing up, his jaw dropped when he heard Rin. Sesshomaru turned back toward Rin who was looking at him with rage in her eyes. Holding the pup that way with her fair wild from the wind made her look like a wolf demon protecting her pup. “What was that?” he asked, knowing full well what was coming. “I will not let him go! For ten years I have willingly followed you through death and beyond and I will continue to follow and serve you as long as I can. But Sven is my pup now and I will not abandon him. If he goes, I go too!” Rin stood firm, fully aware that Sesshomaru could cut her down in an instant. Sesshomaru stood still, listening to Rins outburst. It was this moment that he realized that Rin was a grown woman now. She could make her own decision. “Alright then. It is your decision. You may stay or go. The pup does as you do.” Sesshomaru said and waited. Wide eyes, Rin was speechless for a moment. If she stayed, Sven could stay too! “Thank you Lord Sesshomaru! Thank you thank you!” She spun around in a circle, holding Sven out at arms length. “You’ve got a home now!” She spun around a few more times then put Sven down. “Lets get packed up then!” She raced over and started packing up at light speed. Sesshomaru and Jaken could do nothing but stand and stare as Rin picked up camp in three minutes flat. She set the last pack on Ah-Un’s back, then turned to face them. “Okay! We’re all packed up to go!” She grabbed Ah-Un’s reins and picked up Sven. “Do we walk or fly?” she asked. “Uh…” for once in his life, Sesshomaru wasn’t sure what to say. “Uh…can it walk?” he asked. Rin shook her head. “No, he got an arrow through his leg. But I’ll carry him and whatever else you wish me to carry.” she stated. “Since you were out with Ah-Un all day, we might as well walk.” he turned and started out of the clearing. “Wait for me Lord Sesshomaru!” Jaken wailed as he ran off after him. Rin turned to Ah-Un. “Are you alright? Would you like me to take anything? I ran you pretty hard,” Both heads shook no. “Okay! Then lets catch up to Lord Sesshomaru!” the reins looped through her arm, and holding Sven close to her body, they took off.

This is the last place where he’d been, Koga stood from where he’d been kneeling on the ground. Sniffing the air, he caught the scent of a female and almost fell back in shock. There was something about the scent that tugged at his very soul. Is she the one I’ve waited for? I MUST find her. He jumped into the trees and sniffed around. The scent headed northwest from there. It was a start. He ran quickly along the treetops, stopping every so often to make sure he was still following the scent northwest.

Kagome sat in a rocking chair outside on the porch sipping tea. The sun was setting behind the house and the area in which there house stood was deep in shadows. The door opened and InuYasha stepped out onto the porch and shut the door behind him. He jumped to the porch railing and perched on it. “It has been a while since you’ve made me sit.” InuYasha stated. Kagome flicked her gaze over at his back, then continued to stare off into space. “Well, I hadn’t felt the need to in a while,” she replied, watching the trees a few hundred yards away. The shadows danced within the trees and the treetops swayed slightly, back and forth. Kagome found that odd, seeing as there was no wind. “InuYasha…?” She started. “I know, I’m watching it too.” he replied quietly. “I think there are jewel shards over there,” Kagome whispered, and InuYasha stiffened. Although they still kept an eye out for the shards, now that they had the twins, they didn’t actively search for them. When they had defeated Nuraku, they had most of the jewel shards, but about a quarter of the jewel was still out there. “Don’t move.” InuYasha pulled out his Tetsigua and leapt off the porch, running toward the trees. “Wait InuYasha!” Kagome realized that there were two shards running on the treetops. He glanced back as he continued running. “I think it’s Koga!” as soon as she said so, Koga burst out of the trees and raced toward InuYasha. InuYasha slid to a stop and braced himself for Koga’s attack. Koga ran straight for InuYasha, and just before hitting him, veered to the side and ran straight to Kagome, sliding to a stop. He jumped up onto the porch and took hold of her hands. “Kagome,” he started, “Age and motherhood have only made you more beautiful.” Kagome blinked. “Well, thank you Koga. But what are you doing here?” Kagome asked. InuYasha reached the porch and climbed up on the railing. “Did you jut care for a woman and a half breed wolf pup demon?” he already knew the answer. The woman’s scent was so overpowering he could barely think. “Why yes, someone was just here. About a half an hour ago.” His grip tightened slightly, then he released Kagome’s hands. “Do you know who she was, what village does she belong to?” “She is a traveler. She travels with Lord Sesshomaru. Her name is Rin.” Kagome had continued to talk but upon hearing her name, Koga’s breath caught and Kagome’s words fell on deaf ears. Rin, her name is Rin… Koga closed his eyes and breathed in more of her scent. “What’s your problem?” InuYasha asked, pulling Koga out of his daze. “Nothing. Did you see which way she went?” Koga asked, but they both shook their heads. The door opened, and Torhu and Youske popped their heads out. “We saw which way,” Torhu said. “She headed that way,” Youske pointed southeast. “Thanks munchkins, bye Kagome, mutt,” Koga nodded to InuYasha, smiled at Kagome and the kids, and took off in a cloud of dust. Kagome and InuYasha watched as Koga hopped onto the trees and raced out of sight. “I wonder what that was all about…” Kagome mused. “Who cares? I’m just glad I don’t have to look at him anymore, although I can still smell him…” InuYasha stated. Kagome closed her eyes and tightened her fists. “InuYasha…” She paused for dramatic effect. He once again looked at her in horror, and tried to sound a protest, but she spoke over him. “Sit Boy!” InuYasha was pulled off the railing and slammed into the deck while Kagome ushered the children back into the house.

Rin herself was on Cloud 9. She had been allowed to continue traveling with Lord Sesshomaru and bring Sven along. Lord Sesshomaru had them going at a brisk pace, but it didn’t matter. The way Rin was feeling, she herself probably could have flown. Oblivious to everything, it seemed Rin wasn’t quite aware that they were traveling a lot faster than usual. But Jaken had been serving Lord Sesshomaru for quite a while, and could tell by the way there were traveling and at the speed they were traveling, that Lord Sesshomaru was trying to leave something unwanted behind. They paused briefly for the night, and in the morning, Rin refused to pack up and move on until she had freshened the medicine on Svens wound. Sesshomaru stood waiting impatiently while Rin put the salve on Sven, and rewrapped his leg. Once done though, she set down Sven and packed up in record time once more. “Okay!” She said cheerfully, picking up Sven and Ah-Un’s reins. “We’re ready!” she laughed when Sven barked with excitement. Sesshomaru only nodded and took off at the same brisk pace he had used all last evening. “My Lord,” Jaken started, after a few hours of silent walking, “If I may be so bold to ask, what are we hurrying away from?” Jaken kept his voice low to keep his words from traveling to Rins ears. Sesshomarus eyes darted back toward Rin. “I fear Rin will only be with us for a few more days, if that,” for once, Sesshomaru answered Jaken without striking him. So, Jaken risked another inquiry. “Can you not keep her with us?” he asked hurrying to keep pace. “This is something she must decide on her own,” Sesshomaru picked up the pace, signaling to Jaken that question time was over. All the while, Rin was trailing along behind them, Ah-Un’s reins tucked in her elbow, and she was dancing around with Sven. The pace held for two more days, before Sesshomaru stopped and set up camp in a small clearing once more. “Stay here Rin. Jaken shall stay as well. I’m not sure when I shall return, but stay here,” with that, Sesshomaru strode off into the trees. By now, the wrap was off of Svens leg and he was running around the clearing, yipping and leaping with joy. Laughing, Rin ran around after him and it turned into a sort of game of tag. For once, Jaken didn’t scold Rin for being so loud, seeing as he wasn’t sure how much longer she would be around. That was how the next few hours went. Rin chased Sven. Sven chased Rin and Jaken sat by the fire. As darkness was falling, Sven stopped in mid-stride and Rin quickly slid to a stop to avoid stepping on him “What is it Sven?” Rin asked. Sven started growling and Rin picked him up, holding him in her arms. The wind began to pick up and Rins hair whipped around her face and back behind her. Then a man dropped down from the trees above, landing directly in front of Rin. Rin blinked at the man who leaned in and sniffed at her. Rin took a step back as he took another step forward. “I finally found you,” he said before he stepped right up to her, bent over and picked her up behind the knees. Lifting her over his shoulder, she held tight to Sven while trying to kick the man who had a hold on her. “Let me go!” she yelled, but his arm was a steel band, holding her legs tight against him. From her angle, all she could see was a furry tail coming out the back of his wrap around his waist. Jaken jumped up from his position, as did Ah-Un, but Koga just waved and gave a smirk, then jumped up before they could do anything. “Rin!!” Jaken yelled, but stayed where he was. “No Ah-Un.” He said quietly when Ah-Un began to rise from the ground. “Master Sesshomaru said she had to decide on her own.” Ah-Un lowered to the ground and lowered its heads, making a low noise in its throat.

After yelling at him to release her at once with no avail, Rin stayed quiet as she held tightly to Sven, the countryside swept past them. She stayed in the pose over his shoulder for what seemed like many hours, she wasn’t quite sure of the time. She knew this was scary though. She had died before because of wolves, and although Sven was a wolf, she could stand him. The fact that she was at the mercy of a full wolf demon was scarier than anything she had ever encountered while with Lord Sesshomaru. Please Lord Sesshomaru. Come save me… she thought to herself. The light of the day was beginning to thread its way through the trees, and once the sky turned pink, the man holding her finally stopped at the mouth of the cave. Setting her down, he grabbed her arm and led her into the cave. She stood stunned as he light a fire at the mouth of the cave. Then he turned to her and began to speak to the wolf cub. “Why did you run away?” he asked ignoring Rin and only looking at the wolf. In return, Sven gave little yips and growls. “That doesn’t mean you have to leave. They were only kidding. You know how long I’ve been searching after you?” More yips and growls. “You should have just come to me. Next time, do that okay?” Koga tilted his head while Sven nodded yes. “Excuse me!” Rin said, causing Koga to look at her and Sven to tilt his head back to look at her. “Why have you kidnapped me!?” Rin asked, too frightened to do more than yell. Koga looked at her for a moment, before giving her a sly smile. “Why, because you are my mate.” and with that, Rin passed out. A few hours later, Rin awoke with a ache in her head and her back. Rising to her elbows, she found Sven lying next to her and he gave her a lick on the cheek. “I’m alright,” she said quietly. She glanced around the cave and was relieved to find that the male was nowhere in sight. She rose to her feet and motioned to Sven to follow her. “Lets go before he gets back.” she started to make her way to the mouth of the cave, but just then, the male hopped down and appeared in the light. “You weren’t thinking of leaving were you?” He asked, walking into the cave. Rin stepped back from the mouth of the cave, watching him throw down a dead rabbit near the fire. “No, I was just stretching my legs.” Rin answered quickly. “Good, because it would be useless. Whether you like it or not, you are meant to be my mate. I am so in tune with you now that I would be able to follow your scent in my sleep.” He sat down next to the fire, pulled out a knife and quickly skinned the rabbit, then placed it on a stick above the fire to cook. “Come, be civilized and sit with me by the fire.” he patted the dirt next to him. Rin stared at him in shock. Civilized? This coming from the person who kidnapped her? “I will do no such thing!” she exclaimed, crossing her arms. Koga shrugged. “Suit yourself. I guess I’ll just eat this rabbit by myself.” He sat and stared at the fire, ignoring her. Rin stood where she was, Sven at her side. She looked down at him, and he whimpered softly. Koga scoffed. “Yea, like that’s gonna happen. You can have some too though.” Sven looked at Koga, looked up at Rin, then shook his head, staying beside Rin. Koga shrugged. “Suit yourself.” he pulled the rabbit off the stick and began to tear into it. Rin’s stomach growled, but she stood firm as she watched him devour the entire rabbit. She felt sorry for Sven, who was keeping from eating to stand by her side, but she wasn’t going to find herself being pushed around by this demon. Although, she was completely terrified of him, she wasn’t going to show it. She just had to hold out for a little while, and once Sesshomaru found she was missing, he would come for her in a heartbeat. Finishing the rabbit, he tossed the bones in the fire, then glanced out of the corner of his eye at Rin. The kimono she wore had the print of that dog demon. Not InuYasha, but that other one. He couldn’t seem to remember his name. All he knew was that it looked good on her but he couldn’t wait to get her into the clothes of the wolf tribe. Her hair was black and long, hanging straight down and reaching the small of her back. Her eyes were big and brown. Not a murky brown but a chocolate brown, a dark brown, a brown you could fall into. He could smell the fear radiating off of her, but there was nothing he could do about it. It would take time for her to learn to trust him. Although, time was not on his side. And kidnapping her the way he did wasn’t going to help his case. “I’m sorry.” he said before he would think about it. He saw her head move a bit towards him, then straighten out, staring into the fire. “I guess kidnapping you wasn’t the best way to gain your trust. But I didn’t see any way past it. I knew you wouldn’t be leaving your group willingly. And once I was so close to you, your scent just sent all of my common sense out the door.” he paused, then rose to his feet. “Get some rest. We’ll leave at dusk. I’ll stand guard outside,” he walked out the cave, leaving Rin feeling very confused. What hell? Rin thought to herself. She stood and waited, wondering if he was going to come back into the cave. When he didn’t, she sat down near the fire, leaning against the wall of the cave, thinking on her predicament. Lord Sesshomaru could return to the clearing at any time. But he was also known to stay away for many days in a row. He himself said he wasn’t quite sure how long he would be gone this time. So she had to reckon she was on her own. Sven curled up next to her, putting his head in her lap and whimpered. No, not alone… she thought to herself, then closed her eyes, deciding to take his advice and get some rest. A few hours later, Koga stuck his head back into the cave, prepared to get into a yelling match with Rin. He was unprepared to find her curled up on the ground with Sven, her one arm pillowing her head while the other arm was wrapped around Sven, pulling him up close to her. Her long black hair had flowed out around her head, and for a moment, he was content to just stand there and watch her breathe. Unfortunately, Sven’s ear twitched, and it tickled her cheek. Her eyes slowly opened, and when she first only noticed Sven, she gave a warm, sleepy smile. But then she looked around, and remembered where she was, then noticed him, and he almost winced at the anger and hatred that shown in her eyes. Slowly, she sat up, so as not to disturb Sven, and she flipped her hair out of her face, and eyed him, but said nothing. Sighing, Koga walked over to the fire, and carefully kicked dirt into it, taking care not to raise any dust to disturb her. Once the fire was good and out, he turned and looked down at Rin, who glared back up at him. “You’ve got two options,” he started out, and her eyes narrowed, “You can either come along with me on your own two feet, or we can do as earlier, and I can carry you on my shoulder. You can choose, but either way, you are coming with me. Wake up Sven,” Koga’s voice rang with authority, and Sven promptly awoke, stretching then looking back and forth between the two. He whimpered, and Koga sneered. “I’m trying, but its hard,” Sven whimpered again. “She’s so stubborn!” he marched out of the cave, leaving Rin and Sven to follow. Rin looked down at Sven, who looked up at her and wagged his tail. “I hope he wasn’t talking about me…” she mumbled, then followed him out. After having passed out, then slept for so long, it was once again night, and she glanced around, wondering where he had gone. She didn’t even know his name, know anything about him. But he seemed to think he knew enough about her to claim her as his mate, whatever that meant. He appeared once more out of nowhere. “Lets go,” and to Rin, it seemed like he started off in no particular direction. She sighed, and she and Sven followed along silently. It was dark, and kept the pace brisk, which was nothing new to Rin. She was used to moving through the trees at a quick pace, although a lot of the time she had been riding Ah-Un this late, or they had already settled down for the night. She had to keep picking up the pace for a bit to keep him sight, although she was quite sure he would not allow her to become lost. What would be the point of kidnapping her if he just lost her later. But she didn’t want him to think her lagging and make good on his word of carrying her. For a good few hours, Koga kept the pace hard, wanting to put even more distance between them and the pursuit he was sure would soon be on its way. They weren’t moving at the same speed that they had been traveling before, but that was because he knew that Rin wouldn’t be able to keep up. He could just throw her over his shoulder and going ten times faster than this. But he had given her a choice and he was trying to gain her trust, so he couldn’t go back on his word. He paused in a clearing, and turning back to look at her, he watched as she entered, pushing her way through the bushing, only slightly winded. For the pace he had been pushing, and the length of the time they had been traveling, he was quite impressed with her endurance. Usually, the boys were all exhausted after running with Koga, but she was taking it all in stride. “You can rest here for a moment. I’m going to go ahead a bit and check something out.” he started to walk out of the clearing, before turning his head and looking back at her over his shoulder. “Don’t try to leave. Because there is only one place I wouldn’t be able to follow you. And that would be death.” before she could respond, he turned and whirled out of the clearing. Rin watched where he had exited the clearing, the leaves on the bushes barely visible in the dim light. She glanced down at Sven, who had sat at her feet. Her stomach growled, and she grimaced down at Sven. He looked up at her, and gave what sounded to her like a barky laugh. “Yeh. Kinda hungry.” she gave a sheepish grin. Looking for a soft spot in the clearing, which wasn’t so much a clearing as a place that a tree forgot to take over. She sat in the middle on the floor, with Sven crawling into her lap. Hoping he wouldn’t take too long, she once again remembered that she knew nothing of who he was, or even what his name was. Laying back in the soft cool grass, she resolved to at least learn his name once he returned. Nodding briskly to herself, she told herself she was only going to close her eyes for a moment, but before she knew it, she had fallen asleep. Koga returned about a half an hour later, and was panicked when he didn’t immediately spot her. Then he caught sight of her sleeping in the middle of the clearing, and he heaved a sigh of relief. Walking towards her, he thought about awaking her and taking her to the cave he had found. But she looked so peaceful, that he figured she would rather just sleep here for a few more hours. Now that they were quite a ways away from where he had originally picked her up, he felt it would be safe to travel through the woods during the daylight hours. Dropping down next to her, he curled up against her, and pulled her body up against his. She murmured a bit in her sleep and Sven opened an eye and peeked back at him. He silenced Sven with a look, and closed his eyes, enjoying the feel of her warm body against his.

The trees were full of birds chirping as the sun started to rise. Rin slowly stirred and snuggled back closer to the warmth behind her. Sighing she kept her eyes closed and tried to drift back to sleep. The arms that wrapped around her body tightened, and pulled her closer to the warmth. Her eyes opened, and she blinked a few times, then looked back over her shoulder, and was first shocked, then horrified to find the male who’d taken her away holding her so closely. Quickly, she pushed him, awaking him as she scrambled to her feet, and went to the edge of the clearing. Koga stayed where he was, and stretched out carefully. Pushing her hair out of her face, she glared over at him. “Don’t ever do that again! I’m not some wench who will lay down with any cheap stranger and I don’t even know your name” Rin took this as an advantage to finally figure out what his name was. Koga looked up at her, her eyes were dancing in anger, and her hair was tangled from sleep. He’d run his hands lightly through it during the night, and he knew it was silky smooth. Sven had also risen and gone to stand beside her. For some reason, Sven continued to chose the girl over him, which also made Koga happy that Sven had found something to stand up for. Koga brought his attention back to the girl who was glaring daggers at him. “Well then, since this will probably happen again,” he smiled to himself when she made a not so polite remark, “I guess I can tell you my name. Koga of the Wolf Demon tribe.” he climbed to his feet. “Since it seems you are rested enough to yell at me, we can move on. We’ll find something to eat further on in the day.” he turned and began to walk out of the clearing, before turning and looking back at her. “And for the record, I do not see you as any cheap wench. I see you as my mate. And get used to it, because I shall treat you as one.” he stepped through the trees, leaving Rin to follow. “Yea, well, I’m not going to just lie over and let him bully me.” she mumbled down to Sven as they began to follow. Through the day that was how it went, Koga led, and Rin and Sven followed reluctantly from a distance. Around noon, Koga paused in a clearing and left Rin and Sven for a few minutes, then returning with some berries for Rin to eat. After her meager meal, they were on their way once more. When the sun was low in the horizon, Koga paused and Rin almost ran into him, having been distracted by her thoughts of how she hated him so. “Wha..?” she started but he placed a hand over her mouth to silence her. He put a finger to his lips, indicating he wanted her silence. When she nodded, he removed his hand and pointed. She looked when he was pointing and spotted what had stopped him. A large bear demon couldn’t have been anymore than 10 yards from them, noisily searching a bush for berries. Snot and drool hung down from his jowls, and as they stood there, she picked up Sven. As they stood waiting, Rin held Sven close to her chest, and a little fur wafted up in the breeze and tickled her nose. She tried to hold it in, she really did, but she had to sneeze. Rin didn’t think it was that loud, but apparently it was loud enough to catch the attention of the bear. His head lifted and whipped towards the two of them. They stood still as they could, hoping the bear wouldn’t see them. No such luck. The bear roared, and charged towards them. Rin didn’t scream. After ten years of following Lord Sesshomaru through hell and back, nothing could make her scream out of terror anymore. But she didn’t have Lord Sesshomaru there to take care of her this time, so she was a little concerned. But there was no need for her to be concerned. No sooner had the bear started towards them, Koga leapt towards it, and kicked it in the gut. It stumbled backwards and Koga punched it in the face, lifting it up off the ground and it flew back and crashed into the trees, falling to the ground. Koga ran back and grabbed Rin up in his arms before she could complain and rushed them through the clearing, and before the bear could get up again they were gone. After a few minutes, Koga slowed to a stop and carefully set Rin down. Without saying a word to her, he continued on, walking without looking back at her. Rin and Sven exchanged a glance, then she followed after Koga, keeping closer than she had before. If there had been one dangerous demon out there, there could be more. She quietly followed after Koga. She couldn’t understand why he was acting like that. She could have handled herself, she had Wulfson with her. But he seemed to think she needed taking care of. Which, when Rin thought about it, was kind of nice. The light was waning and Rin finally noticed Koga stop in the middle of another tiny clearing. She pushed her way into the clearing through the brush, and sat down rather ungracefully with a plop. “I’m going to go find something to eat. I should be back soon,” Koga told her, and she nodded her head. She was used to being left alone at the campsite. Koga nodded back and walked through the brush to find something for them to eat. Sitting down, Rin pulled Sven into her lap, and absentmindedly stroked his fur. “He was pretty brave back there…”she said to Sven, and more to herself. Then she remembered that if it wasn’t for him kidnapping her, she never would have met that stupid bear.
