Prisoner: No
In Prison: No
Name: Devyn Astratos
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Race: Crotyre
Appearance: Devyn stands exactly 6 feet tall, his weight fluctuating between 170 and around 185 pounds. He retains a lean, taut musculature, punctuated by light blue pseudo-tribal markings flowing down his arms, neck, chest and back. The markings cut off at his wrist and waist. His skin is a bright, angelic white, while his eyes and long, wildly unkempt hair are black as pitch. His pupils are only identifiable due to the light blue irises encircling them. There is a thin burn mark/scar running from just under his right eye across his nose and down to his left cheek.
Personality: A deep-seated insecurity drives the majority of Devyn's actions. This insecurity is caused by a combination of his relative youth, and his naivete to the ways of the world around him, as well as the ways in which he has been treated. It, along with his natural bloodlust, causes him to be extremely aggressive when he's pushed. However, in normal circumstances, it has the opposite effect, making him withdrawn and slightly antisocial. He is currently attempting to get better at interacting with people. The only being Devyn is close to is his familiar, Allain.
Elements: Darkness, Light, Wind
Powers:
Shadow Manipulation: Devyn can manipulate shadows to form solid constructs, usable for offense and defense. The darkness can also constrict or smother.
Light - Burning: Devyn can intensify and concentrate light for a very potent and lasting burning attack.
Light - Illusions: Devyn can manipulate the ambient light in an area to create a limited illusion to trick opponents.
Flight: Using control over wind, Devyn can lift himself in the air and fly, though not yet with any degree of both speed and control. If he wants one, he must sacrifice the other.
Time: His bloodline allows him the ability to stop time temporarily.
Flameproof: Almost total immunity to fire due to constant vigilance from Allain. The only time fire can harm him is when her concentration is otherwise occupied; sleeping, unconscious, etc.
History: It took 8 years for Devyn's body to be fully created in the Temporal Sleep. It is taking the rest of his life to create the rest of him. Being born with nothing, no reference, nothing to learn from, the young boy was a blank slate. He was ejected into the Great Forest and wandered it for weeks, learning nothing save the fact that he had to eat at intervals to stave off the pangs of pain in his stomach that would rise up. Water was important too, but not much else. It took the arrival of his familiar to teach him about what he was.
The instant and primal connection he shared with Allain, by all rights, should have been terrifying to the feral jungle boy but he adapted to it immediately. She taught him about his heritage, what he was, the powers he could wield, everything she could. She instilled a pacificity in him that he respects to this day, as best as he can. His freedom and childish exuberance granted him the abandon to practice with his gifts as much as he could. Allain let him be a child and get stronger for a few years, but she knew there was only so much she could teach him. He needed interaction with people, so she led him to a village nearby.
His physical appearance was immediately polarizing; very off-putting to some people, intensely attractive to others in different ways. This led to either violence on the part of those who found his appearance discomforting, or semi-worship from the people who thought him an angel. It was a small village, and the majority of the residents had never seen a Crotyre before. This all came to a head one day when his light flared up unexpectedly - and powerfully - and left one of the village's daughters permanently blinded. Up until that point, he'd never exhibited that kind of power. Despite his cries of remorse and empathetic anguish over the accident, not to mention the cries that it was an accident,
he was attacked. His aversion to violence caused him to sustain a serious injury - a slash from a flaming sword across the face.
It left him with a deep cut and painful burn - ever since, Allain stays vigilant, using her control over fire to prevent it from touching him again. But the emotional damage was done. This attack awakened the bloodlust that was tempering inside him all along, and it exploded. His familiar had to watch in incredible sadness as he joined the town-wide battle. When the dust settled, almost the entire village lay dead. When Devyn came back to his senses, his young mind took the entire event to heart and closed himself off. All he knew was that nothing like this could happen again.
